Description
Botanical Name: Matricaria chamomilla
About This Herb: Our Chamomile flowers are harvested at peak bloom, when the tiny white petals and yellow centers are full of fragrant essential oil, then gently dried. This humble daisy-like flower is one of the most beloved and widely used herbs in the world—and for good reason. It’s gentle enough for babies yet effective enough for adults.
Traditional Uses: Chamomile is a gentle nervine, carminative, and anti-inflammatory. It’s traditionally used for anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia—a warm cup of chamomile tea before bed is a ritual for good reason. It also settles the stomach, relieves gas, and soothes digestive upset. Externally, it’s used for skin inflammation and minor wounds.
How to Prepare: As a tea, steep 1-2 teaspoons in hot water for 5-10 minutes. The apple-like fragrance and mild, pleasant flavor make it a favorite. As a tincture, take 30-60 drops as needed. Use as a wash for skin conditions or add to baths.
Safety & Considerations: Generally recognized as safe for all ages. Rarely, may cause allergic reactions in those sensitive to ragweed or other Asteraceae plants. Consult your healthcare provider before use, especially if managing a health condition.
