Description

Botanical Name: Symphytum officinale

About This Herb: Our Comfrey leaves are harvested before flowering, when the allantoin content is highest, then carefully dried. Known as “knitbone” in folk tradition, comfrey has an esteemed history in wound healing. The leaves, like the root, are rich in allantoin, which supports cell regeneration.

Traditional Uses: Comfrey leaf is traditionally used externally for wounds, bruises, sprains, and fractures. It supports the healing of damaged tissues and reduces inflammation. It’s used in poultices, salves, and compresses. The leaves are gentler than the root but still effective.

How to Prepare: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Make a strong tea to use as a compress or wash for wounds. Infuse in oil for several weeks to make comfrey-infused oil, then use in salves and balms. Add to bath soaks for whole-body comfort.

Safety & Considerations: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Do not take internally. Contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids which may be harmful if ingested. Do not apply to deep wounds or broken skin. Not for use during pregnancy or nursing. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
