Traditional Uses: Calamus is primarily used as an aromatic bitter for digestive disorders—it stimulates appetite, relieves gas, and soothes cramping. It’s also considered a mild nervine and was traditionally used for cognitive support. In some cultures, it’s used ceremonially as a mild psychedelic (depending on the variety).
